Wrappings things up – a short post

I have less than a month left here (my flight back is on Aug 7), and I am honestly counting down the days.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m slightly conceited. Several faculty members have been having conversations lately about the role of the English language at the school, gender, religion, etc. and honestly, I have not been engaging. Not because I’m disinterested, but because I truly think I cannot have an intellectual conversation with some of my colleagues who argue about religion as if they know Jesus himself.  I think we need to study Dunning-Kruger Effect in more detail. And by we, I mean people who have more patience than I.

Boston Conservatory at Berklee (where I’ll be going to music school) recently sent out the audition music and I’m quite excited, but nervous. Some of the music include: Tchaik R+J, Tchaik Nutcracker, some Britten, Beethoven, William Grant Still, and more. I have about 20 days when I return home to learn all the audition music (scary, but I’ve been listening to the music to prepare).

I bought two fish, and they live in a small fishbowl next to my desk. They don’t have names yet, but I welcome your suggestions. I’m not sure if I’ll be posting again before I leave Zim, but will certainly reflect more when I return to the US. Until then!
